For those who didn't know Smetana wrote this while he was completely deaf. One of the few things that makes me proud to be Czech. History is the only thing we have at the moment.

I've been thinking this morning, despite everything else that's going on, aren't we lucky to be able to listen to pretty well any music we like, at the click of a mouse?

This performance is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE performance of "The Moldau", which is absolutely my most favorite symphonic piece of music. It's so magnificent and magical and majestic.... I could go on... It is truly a little glimpse into Heaven for me. The flutes are more beautiful in this performance than in any other I have heard. They are absolutely astounding in their emotional and magical contribution to the piece. The swirling magical beauty they create at about 9 minutes in just transports me to another world where this river, "The Vltava Moldavian" in my imagination, is swirling on the precipice of something so grand and beautiful which finally arrives at around 10 minutes and 30 seconds in ... perhaps the river tumbles in beautiful, majestic grandeur from this precipice of swirling waters to the rocks below and flows onward babbling over the rocks where it reveals to us a splendid palace, a Shambhallah, as it weaves and curls its way onward, all the while keeping us riveted, as we follow its journey, and so filled with GRATITUDE, at the conclusion of this splendid glimpse into Heaven that, if you are like me, you find yourself shouting things at the screen like, "Awesome! BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you! Thank you! That was SO WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! THAT's the BEST!!!!! That's JUST THE BEST!!!!!"

I keep coming back to this performance, during this time when the world appears to be intent on destroying itself ,this brings a little sanity and hope for us all...Zevnikov knows my opinion of this FABULOUS group of young people...Keep safe and accept our best wishes from Wales.

I never really was someone who usually listens to classical music, most of the time some newer tracks and a handfull of 80s classics, but you, even though it might not be something many people listen to, they might have heard and/or recognize some of the most famous pieces, like this one here, Vltava, where YouTube just decided to show it to me and deep inside my head I knew that at one point I've heard this piece somewhere!

Magnificent performance. Bravo! Many years ago I had a teacher who "took" us through this piece, explaining how Smetana described the river musically: from its small spring beginnings, going through valleys, through towns big and mall, turning into a mighty river, and passing by big cities... until it joined the Elba river disappearing into those waters. Every time I listen to this piece I travel anew through that marvelous countryside and visit the mighty Moldau... again. Thank you for this wonderful musical pleasure.

I first heard this more than 60 years ago on a high school field trip for a music appreciation class. It was my first exposure to classical music and began my decades-long love of it. Die Moldau remains one of my all-time favorites.

Every single one of them is a master with a instrument watching them play together and creating suchs a sound makes me realise that music is probably the best invention of human kind

Israel adopted the theme as its National Anthem. Thank you for bringing this beautiful music and performance into my home!

I am a Czech expat who has been living in the States for over 35 years now, and I have tears in my eyes every time I am listening to Vltava and Tabor.

Якое цудоўнае выкананне! Дзякуй! Влтава мне нагадала родную Прыпяць( толькі парогаў там няма). Смятана - гэта адзін з найлепшых славянскіх кампазітараў!

Velmi temná a přitom jiskřivě nadějná esence melodie - jako život.

Heart-wrenchingly beautiful music! And these musicians aren't there by chance. They are the people, each and every one of them, that stayed indoors practicing on their instruments after school, while other kids were out playing and messing around. And not just as a passing phase, but perseveringly for year after year, determined to master their craft. That's how they came to be here! God bless them! What I cannot understand, however, is the soul-less moronic mindset that leads some people to register a thumbs down.
